Hydrotite CJ Waterstop

Hydrotite CJ is a high performance waterstop for concrete construction joints that require long-lasting, high-performance protection against water ingress, for hydrostatic pressures of up to 0.5 MPa (50 metre head of water). Hydrotite is a highly effective and reliable waterstop system consisting of a composite hydrophilic and non-hydrophilic rubber strip. It expands at a controlled rate on contact with moisture to provide a 100% watertight seal.
Once in place, Hydrotite provides triple protection against water ingress by:

  • Creating an immediate compressed seal between adjacent concrete joint surfaces due to the natural elasticity of the rubber

  • Expanding through hydrophilic reaction to create a secondary watertight compression seal that compensates for any shrinkage or joint movement

  • Maintaining hydrophilic properties to protect against further water infiltration in the event of future structural movement

Hydrotite CJ waterstop is flexible and easily worked around corners, angled joints and curves to a minimum 60mm radius. This makes it easy to install even on complex shapes, without the need for specialist tools or fixings.
Hydrotite CJ is a composite strip of blue hydrophilic (water absorbing) and black non-hydrophilic rubber. On contact with water, the hydrophilic rubber expands to seal gaps and prevent further water ingress in precast and cast-in-situ joints. The dark blue hydrophilic rubber turns light blue as it absorbs water, giving a clear visual indicator of any premature expansion.

Hydrotite CJ waterstop can be used as a long lasting water seal for water facilities including reservoirs, water treatment plants, dams and sewage treatment tunnels. It is chemically inert and has passed the WRC Tests of Effect on Water Quality (BS6920), making it suitable for potable water applications.
